Advice, questions and answers

"Where can I pitch my Tent?"

We do not offer fixed pitches, instead we offer the ability to pitch your tent where you like in the camping field. Prime locations or pitches cannot be reserved and are only on a first come first basis.

"Apart from normal camping gear, what do I need?"

Our position in Dartmoor means we are higher up / more exposed to weather. Meaning colder at night, so do bring additional layers and blankets. Also Dartmoor is a micro climate where weather can be changeable so pack for varied different weather conditions.

"Can we just turn up without booking?"

No. Please contact us before arrival.

"Can I bring dogs?"

Dogs are welcome at the campsite but must always be on a lead. We can advise on best places to go locally to let your dog off the lead to explore.

.

"Do you have wifi?"

Yes.

Sockets to charge phones are available to rent.

.

"Where can I find a camping shop?"

Ivybridge BP petrol station for gas.

Lawsons in Ivybridge for camping equipment.

Trail Outdoors in Ivybridge for footwear and clothing.

"What do I need to know when on Dartmoor ?"

MORE ABOUT DARTMOOR NATIONAL PARK HERE...

  • Take with you clothing for all types of weather, as weather can change very quickly when on the Moor.
  • Take bottled water. Do not drink from rivers or streams.
  • Take a map and compass. If following a trail, do not leave the path. It is easy to lose sense of direction and become lost. Especially as not all walking routes are marked.
  • Wear good walking boots or sturdy shoes if planning longer distances.
  • Bikes are only permitted on designated cycling trails.
  • Dogs are permitted on Dartmoor but must be on a lead at all times.
  • When walking on Dartmoor, tell someone where you are going and when you plan to return.

"Where can I find local walks and other nearby activities?"

Find information about walks, coastal paths, woodland walks, activities and cycling trails on the days-out section on myivybridge.co.uk

"How far are you from the beach?"

There are 15 beaches with a 30-40 minute drive. find directions and information about local South Devon beaches at myivybridge.co.uk

"Where can I do a food shop?"

There is a Co-Op supermarket in the town of Ivybridge, and a Tesco Supermarket nearby.

You can arrange a food delivery to come to you after your planned time of arrival from Tesco (Lee Mill) or Sainsburys (Marsh Mills).

"What time can we arrive / depart?"

Earliest arrival times from 12pm (camping) 3pm (pods, cabin and bunkhouse), with latest arrival time before 10pm. Departure by 10 am on day of departure. If you wish to arrive earlier or leave later please speak to us.

"What is the Latest we can arrive?"

10pm is the latest time to arrive. It is advised if you expect to arrive late evening please call the campsite to make us aware.

Vehicle sizes for site access

WE ACCEPT TENTS, TRAILER TENTS, CAMPER VANS, BUT
DO NOT ALLOW CARAVANS OR LARGE MOTORHOMES.

Harford Bunkhouse camping site is found 1 mile up (upper) Harford Road, which is a county lane with narrow points which are a problem for caravans and coaches due to width. Making these unsuitable for the road. Minibuses / vehicles Luton Van in size are ok on this road, as well as cars towing small to midsize trailers.

GROUPS TRAVELLING BY COACH

For groups travelling to our site by coach we recommend being dropped and collected at the top of Cole Lane near the bus stop and making your way, approximately 1-mile to us on foot.

"Can we extend our stay if the weather is good?"

Yes, please speak to us and we will be happy to help!

"We have large tent, will that make a difference in price?"

No, prices are charged per person per night. Awnings , pup tents and gazebos are included when erected with your pitch area. The only consideration is not to put up a tent within 4 metres of a neighbour. .

"Are you allowed BBQ’s?"

BBQs and disposable BBQs can be used by your tent or Pod, but must be off the ground.
